What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy (pronounced home-ee-ah-pathy) uses very weak dilutions of small quantities of natural substances (i.e., plants, flowers, and minerals) to help support immune responses in the body. Homeopathy is based on the "Law of Similars," the principle that you can treat "like with like." For example, a natural allergy relief remedy uses a tiny amount of the allergen (e.g., pollen) to help the body naturally counteract symptoms on its own — instead of masking the symptoms. Homeopathic medicines are used by adults and children worldwide.

Are Homeopathic products regulated by Health Canada?
Homeopathic products are reviewed and regulated by Health Canada to make sure that they are safe and that each product’s claims are supported, so that Canadians can safely use them to maintain and improve their health.
How do I use Similasan products?
Please refer to the product pages for specific directions on how to use Similasan products.
Can I still use the product after 30 days?
SImilasan eye drops use a mild preservative that guarantees the product will be free of contaminants for 30 days after opening. If the product has not been contaminated, you may continue to use it until the bottle is finished. One way to test for contamination is to check the color of the liquid inside the bottle. Start by washing your hands. With clean hands remove the cap and place a fingertip over the hole in the top of the bottle. Hold the bottle up to a bright light or window and turn the bottle upside down. If the liquid is clear (no cloudiness, no change in color) it should be fine to use. Because the product is no longer guaranteed after 30 days, continue to check it before each use. Discard the product when it reaches its expiration date.
Can I use Similasan eye drops with my contacts?
Similasan has formally tested its eye drops for compatibility with contacts. Because of the natural medicinal ingredients there is nothing in the product that will damage the lens. The drops will not harm your contact lenses, however if you have allergies or redness, it is best to avoid lenses for a while until symptoms subside. Allergens and irritants can become trapped under lenses and prevent the drops from working as well as they should.
Can I use Similasan products while pregnant/nursing?
As with all OTC products, if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or nursing, you should check with your health care provider before using our products. If possible, check with a health care provider who is familiar with homeopathic products.
My doctor isn't familiar with Similasan products or how they work. Where can I find a doctor who is?
We recommend that you consult a doctor who has received training in homeopathy. The Canadian Society of Homeopaths publishes a list of homeopaths on its website.
Does Similasan have a satisfaction guarantee?
Yes. If you are not satisfied with Similasan products for whatever reason, simply take the product back to the store with your receipt for a full refund.
Does Similasan perform animal testing?
No. Similasan products have never been tested on animals.
Will Similasan products cause dependence or "the rebound effect?"
While some conventional OTC medicines (eye drops and nasal decongestants) clear up, or "mask," symptoms temporarily, the same symptoms often come back with shorter periods of relief in between doses. For this reason, many people develop a dependency on OTC eye drops and nasal decongestants. Similasan's Original Swiss Formulas are intended to stimulate the body's natural ability to provide relief for symptoms of common ailments. There is no worry of toxic build-up or the rebound effect with any Similasan product.
